Many are looking for a quick fix, unwilling to consider permanent changes in their lifestyle. At Berwyn, many have discovered that the Bible holds the answer to... Jesse Every year Americans spend billions of dollars on weight reduction programs and products. Many are looking for a quick fix, unwilling to consider permanent changes in their lifestyle. At Berwyn, many have discovered that the Bible holds the answer to this weight loss epidemic. By following the First Place program, a weight loss plan supported and endorsed by nutritionists and physicians, attendees have lost countless pounds.

First Place is a 13-week program that emphasizes a balanced lifestyle in the mental, physical, emotional and spiritual areas of our lives. The program points members to God’s strength and creates a compassionate support group that helps members stay accountable in a positive environment.

Using the commitments of regular attendance, prayer, scripture reading and memorization, Bible study, healthy eating, accountability, fellowship and exercise, First Place members learn to be victorious over past eating patterns and to commit their minds and ultimately their bodies to God.

Our First Place program is open to everyone and you are welcome to join at anytime. However, the best time to join for the first time is during our orientation week which happens about every 13 weeks. During the orientation, you'll meet the leaders, learn the details, and have a chance to get familiar with out meeting location.

Frequent Questions

When does First Place meet?
Our First Place ministry meets every Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the church's fellowship hall. Occasionally there is a conflict or holiday so please call us at the number on the bottom of the page if this is your first time attending so you can be sure that they are meeting.
How much does it cost?
The meetings are free but there is a small material fee. First time attendees will also need to purchase a First Place Member's Kit which costs about $80. You are welcome to get this kit from our First Place leaders, directly from First Place, a bookstore, or anywhere you find it. The kit is a one time expense and can be used for all future sessions.
When and How do I join?
Simply show up at any meeting. The best time for new members is to come during the orientation week. Our next orientation is July 3, 2007.
Is this a diet program?
First Place is a program to help you change your lifestyle. Changing your eating habits may play a role, but without life change, dieters will return to their previous habits which often lead to a return of weight. By altering your habits, First Place helps you lose weight and keep it off. If you are interested in what sort of things other First Place member are eating, check out the national First Place recipie forum.
